BAPTISM

During the Christening service your child will be baptized and with the support of the church, you and Godparents, your child begins an amazing journey of faith.

As they grow up, they will need the help and encouragement of the Christian community, so that they may learn to know God in public worship and private prayer, follow Jesus Christ in the life of faith, serve their neighbour after the example of Christ, and in due course come to confirmation. As part of the Church of Christ, we all have a duty to support them by prayer, example and teaching.

from the Church of England website

Baptism, or Christening as it is often known, is a service which welcomes new members into the universal Church. In Roydon, the Church is represented by the congregation of St Peter’s and we look forward to welcoming anyone who wishes to be baptised themselves or who would like their child to be baptised.

In the Church of England, baptisms take place during services. In this way, the congregation is able to welcome the candidate and their family and friends and to support them in the serious commitments which they will be undertaking.

At St Peter’s, we have baptisms at the 9.30 am service on the second Sunday of the odd months.

If you would like to discuss or make arrangements for a baptism, please contact our Priest-in-Charge, The Revd Richard Attew (Tel: 01279 315044 or email)
