Financial Donations and Gift Aid
Excluding the costs of major repairs and maintenance, the annual cost of running and maintaining St Peter’s church is over £55,000. If any major repairs or alterations come along, the cost can rise to over £100,000 in just one year.
To keep St Peter’s for Sunday and mid-week services, baptisms, weddings and funerals, to maintain the churchyard and to provide St Peter’s halls for local people and organisations, the PCC has to raise over £40,000 by way of regular donations.
At the end of 2010 £37,000 was donated by 40 people most of whom use the government Gift Aid scheme so that St Peter’s can claim back tax equivalent to 25%.
Regular planned giving of donations can be by either bank standing order or in an individual sealed Free Will Offering envelope which can be put into the collection at a church service.
If you would like to give a regular donation or just a one-off donation to St Peter’s, please contact the PCC Treasurer, Haydn Wood, who will answer your questions in strict confidence. He will provide you with the necessary form to set up a bank standing order or to provide you with a supply of Free Will Offering envelopes.
